Nurturing Natives: TEP's spring seedling thinning event

Nurturing Natives

TEP's Native Plant Nursery

Tillamook Estuaries Partnership is springing into action at our Native Plant Nursery! Join us to help Nurture Natives in the newly renovated Nursery Greenhouse.  We will be caring for the baby seedlings that will eventually be planted into restoration sites helping to revitalize the habitat of the Endangered Oregon Silverspot Butterfly.

As we thin these overcrowded seedlings we will unfortunately have to discard many of these valuable pollinator species. We are therefore incentivizing volunteers with the opportunity to take the removed seedling home to create their own Butterfly strongholds in their own backyard. So, come put your personal touch on our work to ensure clean water, abundant wildlife, and vibrant communities! We hope to see you there.

**Due to constraints on how many volunteers we can have on site we are asking that voluteers register though our Eventbright page at the link here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nurturing-natives-may-27th-tickets-327605846907

How to be prepared:

• Layers - depending on greenhouse space, some work may shift outside, please dress for the weather.

• Rain Gear.

• Outdoor shoes, such as boots, are recommended.

• Gardening/Nursery gloves, if you have them.

• Water and snacks, even though we will provide some snacks.

**Must be 18 or over to attend**

We have a fantastic partnership with Oregon Youth Authority and rely on the Camp Tillamook incarcerated youth as our operations crew at the nursery.  Therefore, we are unable to have minors on the property during our volunteer days.  Also, please respect the youth’s health and safely by giving them ~10ft of space.  Thanks so much for understanding.
