SUMMARY:Surplus Sale from our Native Plant Nursery
DESCRIPTION:Support our Native Plant Nursery.\nThis year we are teaming up with our friends at Aldervale Plant Nursery and offering two ways to purchase plants: \n\nOnline: get the first pick of our limited stock starting Friday\, March 22nd. Follow us on Instagram or Facebook or check back here for updates.\nIn person: come peruse our remaining inventory at the nursery in Tillamook on Saturday\, April 13th.\n\nThe plants at our facility are cultivated from seeds hand-harvested locally along Oregon’s North Coast.  This makes them uniquely adapted to thrive in our coastal ecosystems. Native plants play a critical role in restoring habitats to create cleaner water and better habitat for fish\, birds\, pollinators\, and people.  Check out our new website page for details. \nFor the last decade\, nursery staff and volunteers have used a temporary porta-john as their only bathroom. Funds from this sale will get us closer to building a hygienic\, sustainable\, universally accessible bathroom that is more accommodating of the many body types\, ability levels\, and genders that are welcome at the nursey. \nBrowse Inventory

SUMMARY:23rd Annual Children's Clean Water Festival
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer to support a Tillamook County tradition with another class of local 4th-grade students! \nYou are invited to the 23rd annual Children’s Clean Water Festival (CCWF) on Tuesday\, March 19th\, 2024 at Twin Rocks Friends Camp in Rockaway\, OR. Since 2001\, over 6\,000 students have participated in this annual event sponsored by TEP. This spring\, we hope you will join us for the fun Tillamook County tradition. \nLast year’s CCWF was a tree-mendous triumph! Students learned about king tides and Western Snowy Plover\, sculpted macroinvertebrates using modeling clay\, traveled through the water cycle as rain drops\, and more. When asked about their experience exploring a tidepool touch tank\, one student wrote\, “Today I learned that when sea cucumbers are scared\, they throw up their innards.” In total\, over 300 students\, teachers\, and chaperons from six different schools attended. To support all these students\, TEP recruited 83 volunteers for the 2023 CCWF. \nIn order to make this year’s festival an even bigger success\, we need volunteers just like you to fill a variety of roles. Whether you are keen to lead an activity\, or prefer to stay behind the scenes\, we have opportunities for you to help in a way that utilizes your skills and expertise. \nIf you are interested in volunteering\, please click here to fill out the CCWF 2024 Volunteer Application that is available on our website.

SUMMARY:STEAM Coach Training
DESCRIPTION:Interested in Volunteering on K-12 Educational Events? \nThis Volunteer STEAM Coach Training on February 13 from 9am to 2pm is for new and returning volunteers who want to support environmental education school programs for Tillamook County students in Spring 2024. \nAcross the county\, a partnership of 20 local organizations works together to provide various STEAM (science\, technology\, engineering\, art\, mathematics) programs to Tillamook County K-12 students. Together\, this partnership offers students numerous experiential education programs including environmental science field trips\, farm-to-table school gardens\, science fairs\, cultural programming\, research projects\, professional development\, and more. Each year\, hundreds of students participate in these programs\, which are made possible by volunteer STEAM Coaches. \nIn order to offer these community-enriching programs\, the TC STEAM Partnership needs volunteer STEAM Coaches to fulfill numerous volunteer roles. STEAM Coaches are people who believe all students should be able to learn about STEAM subjects through educational experiences that are hands-on and inquiry-based. \nSTEAM Coaches don’t need to be experts\, they just need to be passionate about helping students learn! We look forward to seeing you at our next training. \n
